iPhone 13 to Be Available Under Rs 40,000 During Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale

The Great Indian Festival Sale 2023 is set to kick off on October 8, and ahead of the sale commencement, Amazon is dropping deals for consumers. The latest in the series is a deal around the iPhone 13, which brings it down to under Rs 40,000 (effective price). However, this price includes an exchange offer for consumers, which means if you do not opt for an exchange, the iPhone 13 might come at a slightly higher price than what's teased during the sale.

Launched in 2021, the iPhone 13 is currently retailing at Rs 59,900 for the 128GB storage model, Rs 69,900 for the 256GB model and Rs 89,900 for the 512GB model. This means that the upcoming Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale will offer a discount of up to Rs 20,000 on the official MOP of the iPhone 13.

iPhone 13 at under Rs 40,000? Here's a deal breakdown

During the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale 2023, interested customers can get their hands on the iPhone 13 at its lowest price. But how? The deal breakdown offered by Amazon promises a deal price which is likely to be lower than the Rs 59,900 pricing. Further, if customers use SBI Bank Debit and Credit cards, an additional Rs 1,500 will be offered as a maximum discount. During the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale, SBI Bank customers can avail 10 percent instant discount on purchases on mobiles which has an upper limit of Rs 1,500, while other categories have an upper limit of Rs 1,750.

iphone 13 deal amazon deal 2023 Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale iPhone 13 deal

Customers who have an old device (working smartphone) to exchange will get extra off, as teased by Amazon, which will be over and above the value of the phone being exchanged. However, not everyone will have a phone to exchange, so we can assume that a bank offer is what a lot of people will be opting for. Nevertheless, combining the deal price, bank discount and extra off on exchange, Amazon claims an effective price of under Rs 40,000 for the iPhone 13.

It's worth mentioning that the deal will only hold for a limited time. As always, we expect Amazon to bump the deal pricing of the iPhone 13 as demand surges and depending on the available stocks.

Apart from the iPhone 13, we can expect Amazon to offer discounts on other iPhone models like iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone 14 Pro during the Great Indian Festival Sale 2023.

"I Am Used To It Now": Yuzvendra Chahal Sums Up Painful World Cup Omission

India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal continues to be sidelined from India's World Cup plans. Though Chahal has been one of India's finest performers in white-ball cricket over the last few years. In fact, since his debut in 2016, Chahal has the third-most wickets in ODI cricket for India. In terms of spinners, he is only behind Kuldeep Yadav in list. Yet, the spinner missed out on playing for India in three World Cups -- T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022, as well as the 2023 ODI World Cup. Though Chahal was a part of the 2022 World Cup squad, he didn't get to play a single game. The situation now is such that the spinner is 'used to' the selectors' decision.

In a chat with Wisden, Chahal admitted that he understood only 15 players could make the cut, and hence, accepted the management's decision.

"I understand that only fifteen players can be a part, because it's a World Cup, where you can't take 17 or 18," Chahal said. "I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I'm used to it now... it's been three World Cups (laughs). "

"I don't think too much in that sense [on competing with other spinners in the Indian team', because I know if I perform well, I'll play," he added. "Someone or the other will eventually replace you in the future. That time will come someday."

India initially included Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav among spinners in the squad. An injury to Axar, however, saw Ravichandran Ashwin being roped in as his replacement even though the veteran spinner has barely played ODIs for India over the past couple of years. For Chahal, however, the only thing matters is that India should win the World Cup.

"I take up the challenge in this way: definitely, they are doing well and I appreciate that. The main goal is that India should win, because this is not an individual game," he said.

"If I am part of the team or not, they are like my brothers. Obviously, I support India [team]. I like the challenge: it tells me I need to work hard so that I come back," he further said.

A number of former cricketers have also rallied behind Chahal, saying the spinner's exclusion from the World Cup squad could cost the Indian team heavy. However, Chahal is praying for the Indian team's victory.

Watch: Pakistan Stars Enjoy Lavish Dinner In Hyderabad, Then Take Selfies

The Pakistan cricket team has truly enjoyed itself since landing in India for the ODI World Cup 2023. Since reaching Hyderabad, the Pakistan team has been full of praise for the hospitality their players have received in India. After their first warm-up fixture against New Zealand in Hyderabad, Babar Azam's men enjoyed a lavish dinner and also clicked a few selfies with the fans. The Pakistan Cricket Board's official Twitter (now X) account shared a video of the team's dinner, where the players could be seen having a gala time.

Pakistan didn't get off to the most promising start on the sporting front as they were beaten by New Zealand in the practice match on Friday.

Batting first, Pakistan put a mammoth total of 345 runs on the board at the Raji Gandhi International Stadium. But, their bowlers could defend the target as the Kiwis overhauled the total in 43.4 overs.

For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra (97), Kane Williamson (54), Daryl Mitchell (59) and Mark Chapman (65) were the top-scoring batters.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan (103), Babar Azam (80), and Saud Shakeel (75) performed the best with the bat.

"A hundred is a hundred, proud and happy of it. Scoring a century for Pakistan is always special. The Indian crowd gave us a lot of love at the airport itself, just like how our fans love us back in Pakistan. We were welcomed in India in a great way. In T20Is I open for Pakistan, in Tests I bat at 6-7, and in ODIs I bat at number 4, I play according to the team requirements.

"Saud Shakeel is in great form and he played a classy knock today. Hopefully, he turns out to be a great player in the ODI format as well. I and Babar try to rotate the strike, we bat similarly, our communication is good and that helps us," Rizwan said during the mid-inning break.

R Ashwin Calls Ex-India Star Who Criticised His Action. He Said...

One of India's finest players of this generation, Ravichandran Ashwin earned a recall to India's ODI team ahead of the World Cup. While there were those who doubted whether the veteran could still deliver in teh 50-over format of the game, he did incredibly well against Australia, prompting the selectors to inlcude him in the ODI World Cup roster too after Axar Patel was injured. However, ahead of the start of the showpiece event, former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan expressed a worry over Ashwin's action. While Siva was trolled by many on social media for his views, Ashwin himself called up the former India star and sought advice.

Having been a star spinner during his playing days, Sivaramakrishnan highlighted how Ashwin's action lacks 'synchronisation'. He even shared a picture to justify his point.

"This picture has gone viral on SM. Enlarge the image and you notice his non bowling arm and upper body has opened up towards the offside. If you look at his lower body is closed. This leads to lack of synchronisation. Ash quickly needs to correct this to be more effective," Sivaramakrishnan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

While there were many who hit out at Siva for his critical opinion, the former India star took to social media to reveal that Ashwin himself gave him a call to talk about the 'techincal flaw'. Not just that, Ashwin also clarified that those who were trolling Siva had nothing to do with him.

"Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action, he was as shocked with the venom of the trolls as I was. Also clarified that the people involved are in NO WAY connected to him. GOOD LUCK @ashwinravi99. Do us proud," he posted in the second tweet.

Ashwin would look to iron out flaws that Sivaramakrishnan highlighted as India take on Netherlands in a warm-up game ahead of the World Cup on October 03.

"Best Player Of This Generation": Yuvraj's Big Prediction For India Star

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh believes that the country's star batter Shubman Gill has the potential to become the best player of this generation. Gill is surely one of the rising superstars of Indian cricket. The 24-year-old is among the best batters the Indian team has. However, it seems that Gill's own best is yet to come as his batting graph continues to rise with time. The right-handed batter was the top run-scorer during India's recently-concluded three-match ODI series against Australia.

"Shubman Gill has the potential to become the best player of this generation. The guy works hard. Since he was 19-20, his attitude has always been like that. He works four times harder than a normal guy since he was a kid. Whatever I have worked with him, he can be the player of this era," Yuvraj Singh told The Week.

"He (Gill) scored 91 in a Test match which India won. He scored two fifties as well on his first tour to Australia which I don't know how many players have done. I am sure he will score runs in Australia, South Africa as well as England," he added.

After a sensational Indian Premier League 2023 season, Gill's form saw a dip before he made a brilliant comeback. The Asia Cup 2023 saw the batter ending as the top scorer with 302 runs to his name across six matches at an average of 75.50.

The ODI series against Australia that followed saw Gill scoring 178 runs across two matches at an average of 89.

Gill came under scrutiny and a lot of criticism after he underperformed against West Indies, especially in the two-match Test series and five T20Is this year. However, his comeback in Asia Cup has once again put the batter in the list of key players that India will be having during the Cricket World Cup 2023.

PCB Wants ICC To Expedite Visa Process For Media And Fans For WC: Report

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday wrote to the sport's governing body ICC for expediting the visa process for journalists and fans who wish to travel to India for the World Cup beginning October 5. Pakistan, who are based here in the run-up to the mega event, play their tournament opener against the Netherlands on October 6. The PCB, which had written to the ICC over the visa delay for the players earlier this month, highlighted its concerns over visas for Pakistan fans and media on this occasion. In an email, the PCB sought prompt action from the ICC on the visa process for fans and media. While it is tough to put a number to the fans applying for Indian visa, around 50 journalists are expected to travel for the World Cup.

Sources in BCCI, which is the tournament host, said the External Affairs Ministry is vetting the names of journalists who want to cover the 50-over event. The applications will need clearance from external affairs, home and sports ministries as Pakistan is on India's prior reference list (PRC).

"The visa applications for Pakistan media are being facilitated," said a BCCI source.

A PCB source added: "It is alarming that the media and fans are yet to be informed about the visa policy, as Pakistan have already played their first of the two warm-ups and will play their first World Cup contest in six days.

"The PCB expects that the ICC and other relevant authorities will expedite the matter as there is a growing anxiety among Pakistan fans and journalists who wish to support and cover their team in the ICC CWC 2023," the source added referring to the email sent to ICC.

India's star Virat Kohli and his actor wife Anushka Sharma are among the perfect couples one could find on social media. The couple often takes to social media to share its pictures together. Recently, Anushka put up a cute picture of her on social media during a promotional post and the comment of Kohli on it melted the internet.

In 2017, the couple sent the nation into a tizzy with glimpses of their dreamy wedding. Years later, the two continue to impress fans with their loved-up Instagram posts featuring each other and their comments on each other's pictures.

Kohli will be seen in action during India's Cricket World Cup warm-up matches, starting September 30 in Guwahati.

The Indian team management will try to keep cards close and assess defending champions England's batting depth when the home team takes field for its first World Cup warm-up match game.

The warm-up games don't have an official status. Both teams can use as many players as they want and check out how some of the players respond in specific match situations. However no team would like to go full throttle and expose all their players or strategies during these games.

Not Ashwin, Yuvraj Wanted This Star As Axar's Replacement In India's Squad

The Indian squad is packed with quality players but either wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal or Washington Sundar should have found place in the home team's line-up, reckons 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh. All-rounder Axar Patel was ruled out of the global event due to quadriceps tear and the management replaced him with senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin was summoned for the ODI series against Australia and eventually he was included in the final 15-man squad as Chahal and Washington miss out.

"I personally feel the only miss in this side is Yuzvendra Chahal. I think the only aspect that is missing from this team is a leg-spinner," Yuvraj told PTI in an exclusive interview.

"I was very keen to see Washington Sundar in the side if we are not picking up Yuzi. But maybe the team wanted an experienced bowler, so that is why I think they went with R Ashwin," said one of India's greatest ODI cricketers.

Yuvraj spoke on the sidelines of an event, organised by Vicks, to release the World Cup anthem.

The performance of Jasprit Bumrah will have a massive bearing on India's campaign in the World Cup at home, felt former India batter.

Bumrah returned to the Indian side during the T20I series against Ireland recently after a long injury lay-off and he also produced intense efforts in the Asia Cup.

"Jasprit is a match-winner, like Zak (Zaheer Khan) did for us back in 2011. What makes Jasprit a threat is he has skill and pace. He is an asset to the team.

"To make a comeback from the back injury at this stage is quite big too. As a team you feel confident to have bowlers like that, they win you matches from any situation." Yuvraj, who was the player of the tournament during the 2011 World Cup, was pleased to see the growing maturity of Bumrah as a cricketer. "Bumrah has matured in the last couple of years, he has captained India and has become a smart bowler. Rohit knows how to use him wisely, especially because he has captained Bumrah in the Mumbai Indians," said Yuvraj.

"The advantage with Bumrah is that initially he can get wickets with pace but when he starts going for runs, his skillset will come into play. There will be days when you will win a game after scoring 300 or 350-plus but these kinds of bowlers like Bumrah are needed to defend scores like 250s and 260s," he said.

The 41-year-old was also chuffed to see the form of India's middle-order batters.

"It is a good thing that all our middle-order batters – KL (Rahul), Ishan (Kishan) and Shreyas Iyer – are in good form. But the team management needs to decide the 11 and combination ahead of the tournament that will give the team a settled look," he said.

Yuvraj knows a thing or two about winning the World Cup as he was a part of India's triumphant sides in 2007 (T20 WC) and 2011 (50-over WC).

He said India had started their preparation for the 2011 World Cup the moment Gary Kirsten joined the team as the head coach.

"We started planning for the World Cup from the day Gary came on board. The first step was to get to the No. 1 ranking in all formats – whether it is ODI cricket or Tests. When the World Cup came, we had a lot of players who were at the peak of their careers. The younger generation too had matured. So, it became a complete team effort," he said.

On personal front, Yuvraj was battling injuries and other health issues, which was later diagnosed as cancer, ahead of the 2011 big bash.

So, how did he manage to rise above those obstacles? "I was battling injuries ahead of the World Cup…neck, fingers…and other health-related issues as I was not able to breathe properly. I had to put aside all of those things and concentrate on one goal, which is the World Cup.

"When you were playing in a physical state like that, you had to put the body on the line. I think to win a World Cup after 28 years, an effort like that was needed." India had then won a 50-over World Cup, their second, after a gap of nearly three decades, and Yuvraj hoped that Rohit Sharma and his bunch would end India's 12-year wait for a third trophy at home next month.

"I love these guys as I get along with every one of them and I have also played with some of them. I feel that Virat and Rohit deserve a World Cup. So, everyone needs to put their body on the line for such a big stage," he said.

Yuvraj also advised the present bunch to stay away from distractions during the World Cup. "I would tell them to stay away from distractions for the next 40 or 45 days…media, friends and everything. They need to focus on the game exclusively. Sachin paaji (Tendulkar) used to tell us that," he signed off.

Apple Reseller Warns Against Using Android USB Type-C Charging Cable for iPhone 15 Series: Report

iPhone 15 series was launched on September 13 at the Apple 'Wanderlust' event. One of the significant changes in this year's flagship lineup from the company was the inclusion of the USB Type-C charging ports, similar to several Android smartphones. However, if you are wondering about using the Android cable for charging iPhone 15 lineup, an Apple reseller has reportedly warned against this practice. As per a previous report, the USB Type-C port on the latest iPhone series support multiple functions.

The iPhone 15 lineup — including a base variant, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max — debuted at Apple's launch event on September 13. The smartphones get significant changes over the predecessors in terms of its specifications. With this series, the company also introduced the USB Type-C port on all the recently launched Apple devices, similar to several Android smartphones.

However, if users are planning to use and Android cable on iPhone products, an Apple reseller in China has warned not to do so. According to a report on Chinese website CNMO, an Apple store in Foshan City of the Guangdong Province in China has issued an article to request iPhone users to avoid using Android's USB Type-C charging cable on Apple smartphones as it may burn the devices.

The report also mentions that several users consider it to be a gimmick to ensure that buyers purchase the original Apple charging cables, in order to increase their revenue. It is to be noted that Apple has already mentioned on its support page that users can use USB Type-C standard cable to charge their recently launched iPhones.

To recall, the new USB Type-C port in Apple claims to provide 15 times more power than the lightning port's 0.3W of output. The company offers a USB 2-compatible cable in the box on purchase of iPhone 15 Pro smartphones. For a better data transfer speed, users can purchase an optional USB-3-compatible cable from the company's online, offline, and reseller stores.

Indian Cricket Team Arrives In Guwahati Ahead Of WC Warm-Up vs England

The Indian men's cricket team on Thursday reached Guwahati ahead of the Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up match against England on September 30. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who was added to India's 15-player squad for the World Cup 2023 earlier in the day in place of Axar Patel was present with the Indian team. Axar failed to recover in time for the World Cup after sustaining a left quadriceps strain during India's Asia Cup Super Four encounter against Bangladesh. Subsequently, the spin-bowling all-rounder missed the final of the Asia Cup as well as India's three-match ODI series against Australia. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were also present as they made a successful comeback from long-term injuries.

Both stars have made vital contributions in the games leading up to the tournament. Rahul announced his comeback with an incredible century against arch-rival Pakistan in the Super Four Asia Cup encounter. Iyer too struck a ton in the second ODI against Australia.

India will begin their World Cup campaign on October 7 against five-time Champions Australia. Before the tournament, Rohit Sharma's men will play two warm-up fixtures, the first against England on September 30 followed by the Netherlands on October 3.

India Cricket World Cup 2023 squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav.

ODI World Cup Squad Deadline Today. Will India Swap Axar With Ashwin?

The Indian cricket team could contemplate making one change in the ODI World Cup squad that was announced a few weeks ago. With Axar Patel sustaining an injury, the selection committee finds itself in a troublesome position. Though the injury to the all-rounder isn't a serious one, talks of him being replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin have taken place in the cricketing spectrum. With the squad announcement deadline today (September 28), the Board of Control for Cricket in India have to confirm whether it plans to make any changes to the 15-man roster or not.

Ashwin featured in two of the three ODIs against Australia, producing a phenomenal display. But, he was rested for the 3rd ODI as Washington Sundar took his place in the team. Though India lost the match, Sundar's performance did impress many in a high-scoring match.

In the post-match presentation ceremony, India captain Rohit Sharma said that he wanted to give opportunity to every play ahead of the World Cup.

"I'm pretty happy, of course I would like to go all the way along but if I'm hitting like that I'm happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well. Unfortunately, not the result we wanted today. [on Bumrah] I'm pretty happy, more importantly how he feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that's looking good for us" the Indian captain said.

"When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want. We are not confused; we know where we are headed as a team. It's a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part - that's how we win championships. It's about looking after the body and try and stay fresh for the next one and half months," Rohit Sharma said.

But, whether the performances of certain players prompt the Indian team to make changes in the squad or not, isn't yet known.

Babar Azam's Social Media Says It All As Pakistan Team Reaches India

The Pakistan cricket team reached Hyderabad for ODI World Cup participation after a bit of a hiccup with regards to their visa. Babar Azam's men received a grand welcome in Hyderabad upon their arrival ahead of warm-up game against New Zealand. Babar and the rest of the Pakistan players looked in a jolly mood upon their arrival at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad on Wednesday. Babar also took to social media to express his delight at the warm welcome he and his teammates received.

Babar and the team's star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi were in high spirits and were visibly smiling as they posed for the camerapersons.

After nearly a decade since their last visit in 2012-13 for a bilateral series, Pakistan have finally arrived in India.

The 'Men in Green' have undergone substantial changes since then, with the majority of the squad facing the prospect of playing in India for the very first time. This dearth of familiarity with Indian conditions could pose a significant challenge for the entire team.

Taking to Instagram, Babar posted a story which read: "Overwhelmed with love and support here in Hyderabad".

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Earlier in Pakistan, Babar addressed the concerns during a press conference and said, "All of us are proud of travelling for the World Cup. Although we have not played in India before, we are not taking too much pressure. We have done our research and we have heard the conditions are similar to how they play out in other Asian countries. It is quite an honour for me to travel as the captain this time around, I hope we come back with a trophy this time."

The lack of experience on Indian soil won't be the only thing that Pakistan will miss. The presence of the home crowd during their tournament matches will be another notable absentee.

"Unfortunately, we will be missing the fans. However, as far as I know, the games are all sold out so we will be playing in jam-packed stadiums. Although our fans will not be there, I know they will make sure their love is heard on social media. I have heard that the fans in India also show their love, although I have not experienced that as of yet but I am excited to play in India as well," Babar added.

Ahead of the World Cup, Pakistan will play their warm-up match against New Zealand which is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad on September 29 behind closed doors.

They will kick off their campaign for the World Cup against the Netherlands on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

"One Bad Game Can...": Rohit's Honest Verdict On Bumrah's Form

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian cricket team bowlers with three wickets during the third ODI match against Australia in Rajkot on Wednesday. The fast bowler ended up on the losing side but his performance was a huge boost for India ahead of the Cricket World Cup 2023. Skipper Rohit Sharma was quite happy with how Bumrah performed and said that the fast bowler is felling well both physically and mentally. Bumrah was out for quite some time with injury but his return has been a huge positive for the Indian cricket team and Rohit made it clear that one bad game will not affect him.

"I'm pretty happy, more importantly how he (Bumrah) feels body-wise, he has got so much skill, one bad game can happen to anyone. How he feels mentally and body-wise is key for us and that's looking good for us," Rohit said at the post-match ceremony when asked about Bumrah's form.

Rohit is extremely satisfied with his team's World Cup preparation and wouldn't like to read too much into the 66-run defeat at the hands of Australia in the final game of the three-match ODI series.

The skipper said he and the team management (coach Rahul Dravid) are extremely clear about the squad of 15 that will be on World Cup duty.

The final squad is expected to be announced on Thursday (September 28).

"The last 7-8 ODIs we've played really well in different conditions. We were challenged at different times and we took that challenge really well. Unfortunately, not the result we wanted today but I'm not going to look too much into this game. We've been playing really well," the skipper said at the post-match presentation.

Rohit has scored a number of half-centuries in recent games and he looked in fluent touch during his 81 on the day.

"I'm pretty happy (with my own form). Of course, I'd like to go all the way but as long as I'm hitting like that I'm happy," he said.

While Axar Patel's quadriceps tear keeps the team worried, Rohit was clear as to which players will be doing the job for India in the upcoming World Cup.

"When we talk about the 15-man squad we are very clear on what we want and the guys who will do the job for us. We're not confused. We know exactly where we are heading," he said.

Rohit Asks Rahul To Collect Trophy After ODI Series Win. Video Goes Viral

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma asked KL Rahul to collect the trophy after the ODI series against Australia as the wicket-keeper batter led the side in the first two games. Rohit was rested for the first two matches and he made a return for the third one in Rajkot. India went down fighting in the match on Wednesday but were able to clinch the series 2-1 thanks to wins in Mohali and Indore. It was a heartwarming gesture from Rohit and the video of the incident went viral on social media.

Australia saved their best for the last as Indian middle-order wilted under pressure exerted by part-time off-spin of Glenn Maxwell, losing the third ODI by 66 runs.

India however won the series 2-1.

"I'm pretty happy, of course, I would like to go all the way along but if I'm hitting like that I'm happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well. Unfortunately not the result we wanted today," Rohit said after the match.

India were cruising along at 171 for 2 chasing a stiff target of 353 on a placid track but the middle-order crumbled in chase with Maxwell (4/40) getting crucial breakthroughs to restrict the hosts to 286 in 49.4 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma (81) and Kohli struck fifties to provide the middle-order with a perfect platform in the big chase, but the rest floundered to hand Australia the advantage.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh (96) headlined Australia's best batting show with David Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne helping themselves to attacking half-centuries during a commanding performance to break a five-ODI losing streak.

The two teams will now play a couple of warm-up games before meeting again in 10 days' time for the tournament-opener in Chennai on October 8.

"If Virat Is Made Aware Of What You Said...": Sreesanth Rips Into NZ Great

Just a few days to go before the ODI World Cup 2023 gets underway in India. Being the hosts, the Indian team is one of the top favourites to go the distance in the tournament. However, New Zealand great Simon Doull doesn't think the Indian team plays 'fearless cricket', which will be a hurdle for them in the showpiece event. However, S Sreesanth isn't in agreement with Doull, suggesting if Indian players, especially Virat Kohli, come to know of what he said, it would be fun to watch how the team plays against the Kiwis when they come across each other in the World Cup.

New Zealand, who are yet to win the ODI World Cup, eliminated the Indian team in the 2019 edition of the tournament but went on to lose the final to England. Sreesanth, mocking the New Zealand team, said that their former players 'should think before they speak'.

"New Zealand are coming to India. They will get to know if India play attacking cricket or not. We will thrash them. They got lucky in 2019 with MS Dhoni getting run out due to a direct hit. What did you do after playing the final?

"They made a team like England win the World Cup, who hadn't won a 50-over World Cup until then. New Zealand are never going to win. Yes, they might win in the future, but it will be embarrassing for them this time. If you get a chance to address the media, please think before you speak. If you are ready to give, you should be able to take it also." he said in a chat on Sportskeeda.

Issuing a direct warning to Doull and his team, Sreesanth said that India will hammer New Zealand when the two teams meet in the World Cup.

"I just want to tell Simon Doull that Indians are going to have a blast against New Zealand. New Zealand are going to learn a lot against India. Yes, there have been certain matches where they have done well against us, especially in ICC events. But those times have gone now. If any of these cricketers get to know what you said, and if Virat is made aware of it, it will be a lot of fun to watch that match," he asserted.

3rd ODI: Indian Middle-Order Crumbles As Australia Record Consolation Win

Australia saved their best for the last as Indian middle-order wilted under pressure exerted by part-time off-spin of Glenn Maxwell, losing the third ODI by 66 runs on Wednesday. India however won the series 2-1.

While Marsh missed reaching triple figure by a whisker, Australia's batters came good collectively in what was their last official ODI before the start of the World Cup.

Warner had himself to blame for his dismissal after a fiery 56 off 34 balls (6x4s, 4x6s), but he set the tone for Australia early on.

Smith also put brakes on his poor run of scores to make a rapid 74 and towards the end, Labuschagne upped the ante with his 58-ball knock to help Australia post their challenging score.

Labuschagne also became Australia's top run-getter in the ongoing calendar year.

During the chase, Rohit clobbered six sixes and five fours to race to 81 from 57 balls and recorded his ninth fifty against Australia and 53rd overall, while Kohli, who looked good for his 48th ODI ton had to settle for 66th half-century.

The two batters put on 70 for the second wicket and took India close to the 150-run mark by the 21st over, but after Rohit and Kohli were dismissed, the others fumbled collectively.

Maxwell accounted for Washington Sundar (18) and then held onto a stunning reflex catch of Rohit, had Kohli mistime a pull-shot and fooled Shreyas Iyer (48) with a beauty to mark an impressive return after a six-month long injury layoff.

Josh Hazlewood took 2/42 and Cameron Green claimed 2/30 to provide ideal support for Maxwell.

Rohit began with two spectacular sixes off Mitchell Starc over cover and pulled Pat Cummins twice over midwicket with command to provide early impetus.

The India captain, coming off a two-game break, hit the straps immediately which also made up for the dot balls his first-wicket partner Washington Sundar consumed.

The makeshift opener Washington Sundar pulled Hazlewood for his first four and smacked Cummins for a six - reminiscent of his famous six from the 2020-21 Australia tour - but perished for 18 off 30 balls.

Rohit and Kohli went about their jobs unchallenged for the better part of their stand, but their association came to an abrupt end in the 21st over when Maxwell, taking an evasive action on a powerful shot from the India skipper, ended up catching the ball one-handed.

Maxwell continued to make inroads as this time he got the key wicket of Kohli, who, looking to clear Steve Smith at midwicket, got a top edge, which was collected by the fielder running behind.

Despite a set platform to take the mantle, India's middle-order stuttered which allowed Australia to grab control.

KL Rahul added 52 runs with Iyer for the fourth wicket but fell to Starc after a 30-ball 26 and Suryakumar Yadav (8) pulled one short from Hazlewood to Maxwell.

Maxwell then cleaned up Iyer for a 43-ball 48 (1x4s, 2x6s) and Hazlewood had Kuldeep Yadav chop one onto his wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja scored 35 from 36 balls (3x4s, 1x6s) but had no batting partner left to try avoiding the inevitable.

"Dhoni Did Not Win World Cup...": De Villiers Echoes Gambhir's Sentiments

Former South Africa cricketer AB De Villiers emphasised on the need of a good team than having a phenomenal captain or talented individuals when it comes to winning the Cricket World Cup 2023 title. De Villiers went on to say that it was not MS Dhoni or Ben Stokes who won the trophy back in 2011 and 2019 respectively but the India and England cricket teams. The Proteas legend also spoke against the culture among cricket fans to glorify individual achievements and not take the team into consideration.

“Cricket is a team game, it's not a player lifting the World Cup. I see that way too often on social platforms. MS Dhoni did not win the World Cup, India won the World Cup, so keep that in mind. Don't forget that. Ben Stokes did not lift the trophy in Lord's back in 2019, it was team England,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

Earlier, he was all praise for his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Mohammed Siraj after the fast bowler produced a brilliant performance to guide his side to the Asia Cup 2023 title.

"I think what stands out with him is his attitude, and we've spoken about this before on this series. Your attitude can really uplift you if you never give up. And if you keep trying and you make your attitude, catch you with your teammates, the people want you there. The fans want you there, and that's where you start doing some brilliant things and special things on the park. And Mohammad Siraj is one of those players."

"He always just keeps coming back. He's always in your face and I've mentioned this before. The bowlers who are respected the most are the guys that never gave up. They would always compete for every single ball, be in your face. And that's what Siraj does," De Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

314 Runs In 20 Overs, 50 In 9 Balls! Nepal Re-Write T20I Record Books

Nepal men's cricket team made history at the ongoing Asian Games cricket tournament in Hangzhou, China as they smashed the highest-ever total in T20I cricket history, the fastest fifty and fastest century by a player in format's history on Wednesday.  They accomplished this during their match against Mongolia. This match also kickstarts the men's cricket competition at the continental meet. In the match, Nepal smashed 314/3 in their 20 overs. It is the highest-ever total in T20Is, overtaking Afghanistan's 278/3 against Ireland in 2019. (Scorecard)

They also smashed a total of 26 sixes in their innings, the highest by a team in the format's history in a single inning. They went past Afghanistan's record of 22 sixes that helped them make 278/3 back in 2019.

But two of the most interesting records are them smashing the fastest fifty and century in T20I cricket.

Dipendra Singh Airee, the Nepal all-rounder reached his half-century in just nine balls, going past Indian legend Yuvraj Singh's record of a 12-ball fifty against England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, a match which saw him smash Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over. Airee ended with 52* in just 10 balls, with eight of them smashed out of the park for a six. His strike rate of 520 is also the best in a T20I innings.

Kushal Malla also went past T20I giants like India's Rohit Sharma and South Africa's David Miller to hit the fastest T20I century ever, in just 34 balls. Malla ended with 137 in 50 balls, with eight fours and 12 sixes.

Notably, Rohit and Miller have 35-ball centuries to their names, but Malla has now shattered these records by smashing a helpless Mongolia bowling attack all over the park.

Notably, Mongolia needs 315 to win. India's men's cricket campaign will start on October 3 in the quarterfinals. The title clash will be played on October 7.

Can Ashwin Replace Axar In India's World Cup Squad? Rohit Responds

Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday did not divulge any details on the status of injured Axar Patel but said the rhythm Ravichandran Ashwin showed in the first two ODIs has assured him of back-up options for the World Cup in case of an eventuality. Patel had suffered a left quadricep injury ahead of the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka earlier this month, and is currently recuperating at the NCA. The performance of Ashwin in the first two ODIs against Australia has also sparked the debate whether the veteran off-spinner should make it to India's 15-member squad if Patel fails to recover in time.

The cut-off date for teams to finalise their 15-member WC is September 28.

“He has got the class. He has got the experience of playing the sport and handling the pressure. It is just that he has not played ODIs in the last year or so,” said during the pre-match press meet.

“But you cannot take away the class and the experience the individual has over the years and in the last couple of games we saw how well he bowled,” Rohit said.

Rohit expressed satisfaction over Ashwin's effort and said it indeed gives them an option to fall back upon.

“He has got a lot of variation up his sleeve and in case there is a chance, we can look at a lot of things. Hopefully, the way things are at this point, it does well for us because we have got all the backups ready.

“We have given them enough game-time,” he said.

Rohit, who was rested for the first two ODIs against the Aussies, expressed happiness over the fact that the Indian team has been able to overcome challenges with success.

“I am very happy with the last 10 ODIs that we played. A lot of guys came back into form (by) scoring lots of runs and the bowlers are taking lots of wickets. In the last few games, we saw the guys who came back from injuries have proven their fitness,” he said.

“(We are) pretty much settled…how we stand, where we stand. Now, it is about taking this whole situation forward in the best possible way,” he added.

Both India and Australia have never inflicted series whitewash over each other in ODIs but Rohit said he was not too excited with that prospect, since he has other goals.

“As a skipper, you will not look into all those things as ‘whitewash is on the cards' and things like that. You want to play good cricket and you want to achieve certain things on the field,” he said.

“The last two games, I was not part of them, but I thought we played a lot of good cricket, and achieved a lot of good things.

“We chased in one game, we batted first in the other, got a decent amount of runs and we bowled pretty well in both games,” he added.

Rohit said the third ODI against Australia will give the team a chance to test their consistency.

“Tomorrow's game allows us to test ourselves in certain areas — whether we can keep up with the consistency that we have shown in the last two games,” he said.

Being the captain of world No. 1 team across the three formats is ‘pretty good' but Rohit did not want to rest on laurels.

“It is pretty good (being No. 1) but it does not really matter what kind of ranking you go with or what sort of performances you have had in the past,” he said.

“Yes, it is a positive thing to take forward but sports these days are played at present. We have to play very good cricket in the present day and not worry about what happened in the ranking,” he said.

Babar Azam Breaks Silence On Rumours Of Rift In Pakistan Dressing Room

Pakistan cricket team had a good start in the recently-concluded Asia Cup tournament but failed to carry the momentum and bowed out of the event in the Super 4 stage, following a disappointing loss to Sri Lanka. After their shocking exit, rumours emerged that Pakistan captain Babar Azam and team's ace pacer Shaheen Afridi were engaged in a war of words. According to a report in Bol News, Babar, after the loss to Sri Lanka, questioned the role of the senior players in the Asia Cup 2023 campaign. Shaheen interrupted him and said he should not generalise and not criticise those who did well, added the report.

Babar then replied that he is well aware about who is doing well and who's not, according to the report that also claimed that Babar went to the press conference after the Asia Cup loss and on his way to the hotel did not talk to anybody.

While Shaheen had quelled the rumour with a post on social media, Babar Azam on Tuesday asserted that there is no bad blood in the dressing room following the Asia Cup disappointment.

For the unversed, Shaheen had posted a photo with Babar, along with the caption: "Family."

In a pre-departure media conference on Tuesday, Babar said: "There is no ill will in the dressing room. There are discussions after every loss but they get twisted into something else entirely. The entire team is like a family and there is love and respect there."

Most of the Pakistan squad members have not played in India before but skipper Babar Azam on Tuesday exuded confidence, saying his team has done its homework for the ODI World Cup beginning on October 5.

Pakistan team's visas were finally cleared on Monday night and the side will be reaching Hyderabad via Dubai on Wednesday.

Only Mohammad Nawaz and Agha Salman have played in India before. Babar could not travel to India for the T20 World Cup in 2016 due to an injury.

Bangladesh Drop Ex-captain Tamim Iqbal From Cricket World Cup 2023 Squad

Bangladesh on Tuesday announced their 15-man squad for the ODI World Cup in India, leaving out former captain Tamim Iqbal due to injury concerns. Tamim, 34, who retired in a shock move in July before reversing his decision a day later at the request of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, returned to the side only last week for the opening two matches of the just-concluded home series against New Zealand. Tamim established himself as one of the country's most dependable players and is the only Bangladeshi to score centuries in all three formats of the game.

But he took a break from Tuesday's final match that Bangladesh lost by seven wickets in Dhaka, and reportedly refused to give a guarantee of his participation in all matches in the World Cup.

Top-selling Bengali newspaper Prothom Al reported on Tuesday that coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and skipper Shakib Al Hasan said only fully fit players could be in the World Cup squad, leading to the exclusion of Tamim.

"Tamim Iqbal has had an injury concern for a long time, which we know," chief selector Mihajul Abedin said.

"He was fighting against it and got back to fitness ahead of the New Zealand series. But after the first game, he complained of injury again."

New Zealand whitewashed Bangladesh to win the three-match series 2-0.

Batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto, who made his debut as captain during the series against the Kiwis, has been named as vice-captain for the World Cup.

The Bangladesh side travels to Guwahati on Wednesday for two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka on September 29 and against England on October 2, before the World Cup begins on October 5.

The side will then move to Dharamshala for their tournament opener against Afghanistan on October 7.

Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Liton Das, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto (vice-captain), Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

"Ace Of Spades": Ex-India Star Wants This Batter To Play Every Match In WC

Suryakumar Yadav has been enjoying a brilliant run of form in the ongoing ODI series against Australia and this purple patch could not have come at a better time as India gear up for the Cricket World Cup 2023. The selection of Suryakumar for the World Cup was met with severe criticism from some fans and experts due to his poor performances in the format but his recent knocks have proved a lot of critics wrong. Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh was all praise for the explosive batter and said that he needs to play every match of the Cricket World Cup as he is a 'pure match winner'.

"Surykaumar Yadav has to play all the matches. I don't care whom he replaces, but his name should be taken first and then the rest. You have a player who is a pure match winner and can single-handedly make the game one-sided. He is the ace of spades. We have have been taking about a finisher...he is the one. He has to play at No. 5 for India," Harbhajan said on his official YouTube channel.

Earlier, he gave his take on why Sanju Samson was not picked for India's ODI series against Australia.

“Sanju Samson's exclusion has raised a lot of debates. If you average 55 in ODIs and still don't be a part of the squad, then definitely that's strange. But I think Sanju wasn't selected because India already had two wicketkeepers, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Both are also a part of the World Cup squad,” he said.

Ahead of the third and final ODI match between India and Australia on Wednesday, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) secretary Himanshu Shah said that the stadium will be packed since all the tickets are sold out. Himanshu said that the outfield of the stadium had been changed before the third ODI game and added that the pitch is batting-friendly. The secretary of the SCA also hoped that the last match before the ODI World Cup would be exciting. "The third and last ODI match between India and Australia will be played in Rajkot. For this match, the outfield of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot has been completely renewed. The entire stadium will be packed because all the tickets are sold out, and the wicket is also very batting-friendly. We are sure that this last match before the World Cup will be very exciting," Himanshu Shah said.

In the second ODI match between India and Australia, the Men in Blue was put to bat first by Australia. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer played a 200-run partnership. Later in the match, KL Rahul played a 52-run knock and completed his half-century and on the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav made 72 runs from 37 balls which pushed India at 399/5 in 50 overs.

Cameron Green took two wickets for Australia in the first inning, but gifted 103 runs. Josh Hazlewood, Sean Abbott and Adam Zampa took a wicket each.

In the second inning, the Aussies were reduced to 9/2 and rain interrupted the action. Following this, the target was reduced to 317 runs in 33 overs.

An 80-run partnership between David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne helped Australia to get back in the game.

But after this, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja led the bowling attack and scalped three wickets each and helped India clinch a 99-run win against the Aussies.

India has won the series 2-0 with one match to go.

India will start their ODI World Cup journey against Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

For "Goddess Mandhana", Chinese Fan Travels From Beijing To Hangzhou

Smriti Mandhana has her fair share of fans but Indian women's team's vice-captain must have felt chuffed when she saw a poster captioned 'Mandhana The Goddess" and being proudly held aloft by a Chinese young man. But then Jun Yu is possibly a rare species in the Mandarin land, who loves the thwack of the wood meeting the leather. And the love for cricket made him travel 1200 kms from Beijing to Hangzhou in order to watch her "Goddess" in action.

And it all happened when he deep-dived into YouTube's treasure of cricket videos and immediately got hooked to artistry of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Mandhana, three of his favourites.

"I saw Jasprit Bumrah's spell against Australia in the 2019 World Cup. I follow both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. They are the current greats of the game. Then, there is Suryakumar Yadav and Jaspreet Bumrah. Bumrah was extraordinary against Australia in the 2019 World Cup," Yu told when PTI caught up with him after the gold medal match.

So how did he learn about cricket? "Cricket lessons are given in my university in Beijing. So, I know a little bit of it," said Yu.

In fact, Yu gave some interesting insight about the cricket arena for the Games, which was actually a flower garden only some time back.

"There is not much cricket in China, very few cricket venues, very few people play it and many even don't know how it is played. Only Guangzhou, where cricket was played during the 2010 Asian Games has a permanent cricket stadium. It's because of historical reasons," he said.

Yu was one among the motley crowd who turned up at the Pingfeng cricket field at the Zhejiang University of Technology campus here. The venue is not a proper cricket stadium.

"I don't play cricket even if I want to. There is no proper ground also. Even this ground was a flower field before the Asian Games. It was converted into a cricket field for the Asian Games. A few warm-up games were played here before the Asian Games," he said.

While he revers Tendulkar, Yu's favourite cricketer is a New Zealander. "My favourite is Kane Williamson but Sachin Tendulkar is a legend of the game," Yu, who is doing his Masters Zoology in a University in Bejing, said.

But, Yu is not going to wait for the Indian men's team to play in the Asian Games when the competition begins on Wednesday.

"I spent 1000 Yuan (INR 11,400) to come here from Beijing. I have my studies and so I can't stay back for the men's tournament. I am returning to Beijing on Tuesday," he said.

A few of the Indians were also among the crowd, waving the national flag and cheering the Indian players.

One of them, Navneet Singh, who is from Delhi but currently residing in the outskirts of Hangzhou, had turned up with his friends to watch a cricket match for the first time in China.

"I have been here for the past one and half years, I am doing business in fabrics. This is the first time we have watched a cricket match in China. Cricket is not played here in China but we watched cricket on Indian channels."

"We have a club called Hangzhou Cricket Club. We do practice every Sunday and even take part in tournaments in Hangzhou as well as in Shanghai." Another Indian Manoj, hailing from Mumbai but now settled here with family since 2003, has a textile export business.

"Chinese people don't play cricket but you never know after the Asian Games, some of them may start doing that. We (Indians) have clubs here and we sometimes play inter-city tournaments. There is always a tournament in Shanghai. It was stopped due to COVID-19 pandemic and has not started yet after that." He said there is no cricket-specific stadium in Hangzhou, except for this one.

"We have to travel to Shaoxing which is 70 km from here and play there. But that is also a football stadium."

New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson Targets World Cup Return

Less than six months after knee surgery threatened to rule him out of next month's ODI World Cup, the goal of captaining New Zealand in India has been the key driver in getting Kane Williamson through his recovery. The 33-year-old tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee playing for Indian Premier League side Gujarat Titans in April, which looked to have scuppered his chances of making the showpiece tournament. However, intense rehab work has meant a speedy recovery.

Williamson hopes to be ready for the Black Caps opening game against defending champions England on October 5, a repeat of the 2019 final his side narrowly lost.

"It would be great. Naturally, you want to be back playing when you are fit and ready, sooner rather than later," he said.

"You hope that ends up being around that World Cup time, but I'm still being very focused on the rehab day-to-day and not wanting those targets to stretch it to a point where you take a backward step."

Williamson is already batting in the  nets again, which the injured knee can handle.

"For running, it's not quite 100 percent, but making good progress," he added.

Black Caps coach Gary Stead said there was no fixed date for when Williamson will play again.

But his return will be a big boost. He was player of the 2019 tournament with centuries against South Africa and the West Indies in leading New Zealand to the cusp of lifting the trophy.

'Little steps forward' - Williamson, who has chalked up over 6,500 runs in ODI cricket, is desperate to appear in a fourth World Cup, admitting the prospect "keeps you in the gym every day and working hard".

"It's been really pleasing to see the progress and keep taking those little steps forward," he added.

While New Zealand have warmed-up for the World Cup with tours of England and Bangladesh, Williamson's injury has limited his preparations.

But he is not overly concerned.

"Naturally, it isn't ideal, but I didn't get too much of a say in it. It's the only option I have in front of me and the prospect of playing another World Cup is really, really exciting," he said.

"It's something you always want to be a part of but I didn't want that to dictate my rehab. At the same time, having a carrot at the back of your mind is helpful."

Despite a burning desire to play, the New Zealand skipper said he would have no problem withdrawing from the squad if the injury flared up.

"I only want to be there if I can add some value and I'm fit and ready to go," he said,

Williamson already knows about spending time on the sidelines after returning last year from a lengthy spell out with an elbow injury.

"Working through injuries are part of the job, so being ready for whatever's next is the goal," he said.
